PETER CARROZZO
CFO, General Counsel, and Co-Founder
Peter Carrozzo is the CFO, General Counsel, and Co-Founder of Cornerstone Land Abstract, a boutique title insurance company in New York City. With nearly thirty years of experience in the industry—beginning as a title closer while in law school—Peter is known for his pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to title work, helping clients navigate deals of all sizes and complexities.
Peter earned his B.A. in 1993 and his J.D. in 1996 from St. John’s University, later completing an LL.M. in Legal History and Legal Scholarship at NYU School of Law. His scholarship has focused on real property law, the evolution of property ownership for same sex couples and the history of the American mortgage market, with publications in the Marquette Law Review, Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal, and University of Miami Business Law Review.
A lifelong educator, Peter has taught Constitutional Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and now serves as an adjunct professor, teaching courses on legal scholarship, at St. John’s University School of Law, where he is part of the Mattone Family Institute for Real Estate.
Outside of law and title, Peter is a writer and playwright. He has authored blogs, journal articles, a theatrical podcast, and several produced plays. He is also a co founder of the North Broadway Players, a Queens-based community theater where he wears many hats—technical director, writer, and, when needed, the one with the broom.
